- Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 12:06:49 (PST)I just recently stumbled on to your websetite. I found it extremely informative and just plain fun to read. I am in my second year of fly fishing and have absolutely fell in love with the sport. I have an 11 year old son that is learning to fly fish along with me. We are about 3 hours away from excellent trout fishing in Broken Bow, Oklahoma at Beavers Bend State Park. We go as often as possible, but we have found that bass fishing in ponds and small lakes around or loads of fun as well. Thanks very much for the wealth of information that you offer your readers and fellow anglers.
Sincerely,
Dale Roddy

MY NAME IS JOHN BRUNO, A 70 YEAR OLD FISHING ENTHUSIAST, BUT HAVE NEVER DONE ANY FLY FISHING.

MY WIFE AND I ARE NOW PLANNING TO MOVE INTO A CONDO. THIS MOVE HAS CAUSED ME TO CLEAN OUT CLOSETS, STORAGE ROOM, GARAGES, ETC., WHERE I CAME UPON THIS FISHING ROD. STILL IN THE SEALED TUBE.
LET ME DESCRIBE IT: MADE BY: SOUTH BEND BAIT CO.
MODEL: #24 HCH-OR-C
PAT #: 1931303
LENGTH: 9 FT.
TIPS: 2
IF ANYBODY KNOWS SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME FIND THE VALUE OF THIS FINE FLY ROD, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT:

Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 08:22:52 (PDT)I'm in my 72nd year and have been a fly fisherman for more than 60 of those years. When attending the Univ of Montana in Missoula, in the late 40s and early 50s, I bought Pott flies from Mr. Pott himself. The lady mite and sandy mite have always been favorites. When a dry fly in heavy water won't get them, the mite family will. I've fished all the blue ribbon streams in Montana, and have released most of the fish that I've caught. My knees give me a little trouble on the rocky bottoms now but I still lay them out there when I can. I've enjoyed this Website. Regards, Stan Goodbar Stan Goodbar <lazyyr@prodigy.net>

miramichi, canada - Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 09:07:41 (PDT)I was looking for sites on rod building when I came across this site. I am just started to get into fly tying as well. This site is phenomenal. The step by step with pictures makes it so even somebody with ten thumbs like me can tie a fly. It is really helpful and beneficial seeing the pictures. Being a beginner and not having a teacher around to show me some of the basics, I have a hard time with some of the steps and methods. This sites helps a lot. Hopefully I can hit my fly tying hard and heavy this winter. Thanks for one of the most beneficial sites on the web. Jim Crays Jim Crays <crayszj@novagate.com>

Floated on in with a yahoo search for: Bamboo Rods.
Picked on: Fly Anglers On Line "Bamboo Rods Part 69".
Been modifying leaders and tippets to go to part 68,70, etc.
Oh, and back to the home page. Alot of places to explore.
Been casting around for two days now, catching a few good
ones. Interesting and informative to say the least. Very nice site.
Afraid I'm gonna have to camp and keep castin' around.
Glad I didn't see any "No Tresspass" signs.

Umm, one comment - when someone follows the URL, or link to
to Dan Crafts web site, his web page won't let you back out... ya' have to resort to the Address bar... which throws one back to the URL ya' started on. Dan should probably talk to his web master ... it's damn infuriatin' to have to go fish-less back over water you've already disturbed.

Homosassa, FL USA - Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 18:17:02 (PDT)Hello all, just stumbled across the site and I love it. I shall definately become a regular visitor! Looking at the dressing in your archive for the Goddard Caddis, I wanted to make a comment. It's called the G+H Sedge over here (even by John Goddard whose initial, together with Cliff Henrys'is the reason for the name). To be pedantic, the correct dressing has a dubbed body of seals fur or similar substitute, of appropriate colour, under the deer hair. Since this pattern lies flush in the surface film, I believe that color trigger can be most important. It,s done by tying in a longish loop of thread at the bend, before making the spun body. Once the deer hair is clipped to shape, a tight spindle of dubbing is spun in the loop, and the resulting body is stretched under the fly and secured before winding the hackle. The fly was designed by John Goddard in collaboration with fly dresser Cliff Henry when they both fished a water supply reservoir (Bough Bridge in Kent England). As you have the dressing described, it more closely resembles the Karsten Sedge, developed by Karsten Fredrikson in Denmark. The Karsten sedge, however, tends not to have the deer hair trimmed flat under the shank - it's left rather conical. The deer hair is very tightly packed. Countries such as Switzerland, Spain, the former Slovenia, all the Scandinavian countries, France, Italy, Germany and Austria all have a very long tradition of fishing innovative sedge (as we call 'em) or caddis imitations. If you look at the patterns, it's apparent that they cover most of the designs that have been re-invented since. Lesson is - there's very little that's totally new. Interested anglers should locate 'Tying and Fishing the Sedge' by Taff Price (Blandford 1994) where worldwide patterns are fully explored. It's a humbling experience!
Thanks again for the super site. Roger Ellis <roger@covertside.fsnet.co.uk>

Manitowoc, Wi USA - Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 13:35:31 (PST)My wife is a nongame wildlife biologist for the DNR here in Central MN and was working at the "Get the Lead Out" booth at the Sports Show this weekend in Minneapolis, met "Parelli" and she passed this website on to me. I've started a First Cast program through our local TU chapter with twelve 8th & 9th graders (boys and girls). We have be tying during the fall and winter and will begin field work this spring with a stream restoration project and water quality monitoring program. We are also planning a Fly Fishing Clinic and some fishing time as soon as the ice leaves our lakes. Next year, we want to expand our program to include rodmaking. At the end of this two year program, the kids will have some voluable life skills and hopefully a sense of the importance of stewardship for our natural environment. You can check out our program by clicking on the First Cast link on the URL listed above. Ken Perry <tkperry@brainerd.k12.mn.us>

Havre de Grace, Md USA - Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at 17:15:30 (PST)Yea I have a comment I've had my computer now for over five years, and have spent most of that time in chat-rooms, about either FlyFishing, or sports fishing, but I have never been in one that is run as well as yours. For expample I was have a problem getting into chatrooms,so I wrote a short letter to you, and not expecting to hear from you for at least a week, I went back to what I was doing on my computer. Iwas doing my book work for my little Fly company that I'm the owner of, and right in the middle of it, a very nice lady responded to my letter.
Well to say I was blowen away by such a quick response is putting it lightly. The point that I'mtrying to make is that this shows that you have "quality people" working for you!!!!!! And I think you ALL should give yourselfs a pat on the back YOURS J.D. PIZZO J. D. Pizzo <jpizzo@sonic.net>

Charlottetown, PE Canada - Tuesday, January 08, 2002 at 09:24:27 (PST)Recently "discovered" your site while messing around with my
son's computer during a Christmas visit to his new Oregon
home. A great refuge for an old guy who loves to flyfish.
(When he's not fishing!). Keep it going and I'll pass on
your site to my fishing p Ron Caulfield <rcamerica@aol.com>
