Tying Desk, End of 2010

What does your tying desk look like as we come to a close on “2010”

A lot messier than yours. I know a shrink that can help with that neatness issue.

REE

Either he stay’s home cleaning it up when he should be out fishing, or he’s out fishing and it doesn’t get a chance to get cluttered up in the first place. I hope it’s the latter.

Popperfly you have a great area to tye on. My table looks worse than Ron Eagle Elk’s table…lol. I have got to clean that thing up, it is hard to find materials in the pile of mess. I tye flies on two tv tray tables. It isn’t pretty, but it works for now.

Ree’s is neater than mine.

Well, here’s mine set up in a corner of the basement.

Dave

What!!..you think I am crazy… I cleaned it before posting pictures

There are a several possibilities; 1 - He has his house up for sale and his wife made him clean up the room to show the house; 2 - It’s a new antique desk he got for Christmas and he hasn’t started using it yet; 3 - His mother or her mother came over for Christmas and he had to straighten up for Mom; 4 - SWMBO explained the consequences of not straighten up that corner of the house.

First off you notice it appears to be a nice piece of antique furniture he uses for a desk, I have my son’s old college desk and a tying bench made from scrap plywood and wood pallet scraps. I would be afraid of spilling something on a nice piece like that.

THAT is just soooooo wrong to have that much stuff!!! I’ve seen fly shops with less stuff than Dave has. Uncle Dave, you really should share the wealth with your long lost nephew!

That’s quite a Man Cave you have there Dave. A little too neat and organized though…see REE’s post above!

Brad

Dave, that is a serious tying area

I don’t think I’da told that on myself.

Wow dave that set up is awesome, I wish i could devote a space like that to fly tying, it’s looks like a miniature fly shop for your personal use.

This is not a retail shop and not open the general public.

OK,This is Chris Helm’s fly Studio in his basement (so maybe this is his ENTIRE basement). When you order anything from him at http://www.whitetailflytieing.com/index.htm, he just grabs it off the shelf and mails it to you. more or less.

Still, how cool would THIS set up be to have in your basement???

Here’s a photo of my desk. I keep the majority of my materials in plastic containers inside of the closet in the room.

Jim Smith

I think I have seen that pic before, but I am still jealous. Do you sell bait and fishing licenses outa there too?

Seriously, I love that setup.

HAHAHA!!!..Before I READ your post, I thought that it was Chris Helms’ basement fly shop! Quite a layout.
Mike

It’s not as messy as normal

Bass Bug/ALL,

Love the wood on those thread display cabinets at Chris Helms fly studio! My fly tying area is down for maintenance (excessive dust), plus it’s buried under a pile of hunting gear! Hopefully I will get my mess cleaned up by New Years (not a resolution!), but I’m not holding my breath! LOL!!! Happy tying in 2011 everybody!

Best regards, Dave S.

DUB,

Just trying to learn something new with this question?

What do you use the Mod Podge for?
