Quill Body Dries

Ok now that my mistake flies are done I’ve found one that should be a LOT of fun to tie (I’m so greatful for the long turn in time).

Quigley’s Mayfly Cripple

Hook: # 16 Dry
Thread: 8/0 Tan
Tail: Tan marabou
Abdomen: Striped Ginger hackle stem (Quill)
Thorax: Tan poly
Wing: Light tan deer hair
Hackle: Light rust hackle

recieved a very nice set of flies in the mail today from WaterBum. he decided to send the “mistake” patterns along as well, so you’ll all be recieveing 2 flies from him.

Mark McKenzie is tying up a Dave Hughes pattern called a Pale Morning Quill Parachute in size 14, modified with different materials (my pref).

Hook: Standard dry fly, size range 14-18
Thread: PMD 6/0 nylon
Tail: Light ginger Coq de Leon hackle fibers
Wingpost: White turkey T-base feather segment
Body: PMD McLean’s Quill Body Material
Hackle: Light ginger

I hope folks in this swap will be able to fish these flies.

Sent my flies out over a week ago now. Any sight of them out there on the West Coast? If they don’t show by the middle of next week I’ll have to tie up another batch.
