Thread: Black 8/0 Uni-thread
Tail: Red hackle barbules
Body: Medium black chenille & medium yellow chenille
Hackle: Speckled brown soft-hackle of your choice (I strip the feather on one side then take 1-1/2 to 2 turns.)
For the body, I take 2 turns of the black chenille then 2 turns yellow chenille and then 2 more turns of the black chenille. For the soft hackle I use either Hungarian Partridge, speckled brown hen saddle, or a speckled grouse feather.
Ok, I put my flies in the mail yesterday. You should get them soon.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I changed my pattern to bully’s bluegill spider. I caught most of my fish on olive or brown varieties last year. I tied brown for the swap.
Cool, I’m curious to see what your bully’s bluegill spider looks like compared to mine. How would you say you fish those the most? On the drop or with a retrieve?
Generally I’ll fish mine on a slow fall, and then add small, slow strips with a rest to see what happens. I’ll team it up with an indicator, too to target a specific depth.
