This swap is in honor of our Kansas fish-in. You don’t have to attend to participate, but our theme is going to focus primarily on the bluegill/sunfish/bream since that is what we are primarily after. Any of your bluegill-gettin’ patterns is acceptable here. My thought is that this swap should inspire our tying before the fish-in.
I’m going to make this one a little larger than usual due to the popularity of the bluegill theme. I’m going to sign up the first 15 people who commit to this one.
Standard rules apply. Please either post your recipe on this thread, or on the toetag. Make sure each fly is toetagged. Ship your 15 flies in a crushproof container with return packaging and postage (no metered mail) to me no later than March 31.
Sign up deadline is Feb 28, or until we have 15 tyers. Thanks for signing up!
Yep I am in on this one. I will tie a beadcahin eyed hares ear soft hackle. Its a pattern that I got bored on a thursday night and tied up. It caught a lot of fish the next morning.
ol’ blue I would like to join. The club that belong to in Lawrence " home of the #1 ranked Jayhawks" has a member that has come up with a nice crappie fly. The fly is called “Sarge’s crappie fly” watching the member fish with his fly he seem’s to slaughter the crappie/bluegill.
Love to join in. This my first swap and sounds fun. I’ve fished for these panfish for 40+ yrs. and tied flies for ~25 years. If you don’t mind I’ll tie an Alpaca dart.
If its ok my daughter would like to get in on this. I just got her registered on here and she helps me tie, she will tie one that Quivira kid calls the green lantren.
