The sky opened itself to the reedy smell of the lake, the moon rode in a parting of clouds for fully a minute, and I glanced out at the water through the clusters of pale evening duns on the screen, through the moon-lighted dazzle of their wings, and saw
the fiery V-shape bearing out
A small light of stars
I raised my arm and room light flung
to frighten him, to make him dive,
