he's much too smart for me,
besides he gets too awful big-
he'd break my pole you see.

The trout they say is fished with boots
and sought by men with class,
the fly rod's much too hard to use
and plumes for bait?...ALAS !

No, I would have to name that guy
down south they call the brim,
he lives just anywhere he wants
each state's okay for him.

You catch him with most anything
for kids he fills the bill,
a Lepomis Machrochirus
