Materials:

TYING INSTRUCTION

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTWInsert the hook in the vise and build a good thread base to the Hook's point.

 

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTWAttach the yarn and Flashabou at the rear of the thread base.

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTWTwist a 6 inch (153 mm) piece of one half of a strand of green antron with the strand of Flashabou tight and bring the tag ends together. The doubled twisted strand of antron will twist together. Hold together firmly with finger tips and attach the twisted strand at the middle of the hook. Trim the excess.

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTWTrim the 1/4" foam strip to a shallow point. Attach the strip of blue closed cell foam at the body tie off point on top of the hook with the loose end over the hook's bend. Turn the hook upside down in the vise and repeat the step for the bottom half of the thorax.

 

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTWWith tying thread attach 1/2 half pencil sized stacked elk hairs at
the front of the bottom thorax strip and trim the butts close.

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTWDivide the elk hair, pull the lower thorax strip through the elk hair, secure with tying thread at the rear of normal head space and trim the excess close.

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTWRight the hook, pull the upper thorax foam strip to the front of the fly and secure with tying thread at the rear of normal head space. Leave enough of the butt end of the foam strip to form eyes with figure 8 thread wraps when the excess is trimmed.

 

ADULT GREEN  DAMSEL - FOTW Whip finish and cement if desired. Color the eyes with black permanent marker.

NOTES

This Adult Green Damsel pattern is merely an adaptation of the Foam Stone with new material for the twisted body extension. The pattern produces well on rivers and stillwaters  where damsel flies are present.
