25 degrees at 10 am…45 degrees at 1pm.
snow melt caused trout have lock jaw.
I landed 3 and friend landed 5.
Spent the last couple of days calling/messaging/emailing friends asking to go fishing with me today.

Did you have flooding in your area?
did but it cleared quickly
Went to visit my mother at the nursing home in Grove and fished my way back home. I had intentions of only hitting the stream for an hour but it turned into 2.5 hours.
Was 51 degrees when I hit the water at noon. There was a haze of clouds and the small stream I targeted was clear with tiny bit of color.
The first hole yielded 7 browns in the first 10 casts. This was the smallest amount I caught in a hole in the entire outing.

Hit the water at 11:30am. Clouded over and outdoor temperature was 51. The action was good for the first 2 hours. The clouds went away and so did the trout.

Bruce sent me an email yesterday and we set up this mornings outing. Hit the water at 10am. partly cloudy with a slight bit of color to the water. It was 58 degrees outside. We finished at 3:30pm. The clouds had turned to haze at about 2pm and the outside temp was 66 degrees. Between the 2 of us we landed over 80 browns.

Had odd hatch…was not sure what was until the browns started eating them on surface and we caught a brown that puked up one.

Tried For Pike And Walleye…Nobody Home Accept A Water Snake

Went below the dam in Gays Mills to try for a pike or an eye…water was dirty and high…no takers… There was an interested observer. It held still and changed positions a couple times…It was not camera shy.

Trip Report “Discover Wisconsin Television” Scouting

Taking Discover Wisconsin out in a couple weeks to trout fish. It was set up by Richland Center Tourism. I hit the water at 9am to check out a couple potential fishing destinations. The first spot was a swing and a miss. Nice looking water but no one was home.
The sun was crawling up in the sky pretty quickly. Bigger trout are finicky and are kind of shy in sunny conditions. There was another prospective place about 20 minutes away. The last time I fished there the weeds were way too high. The farmer told me he was going to pasture his cows in July there. I thought the small stream should be manicured by the cows by now.
The cows had taken care of business for me.
I decided to just fish it for a short time. I did not want the trout to be wary in a couple weeks when I return with the crew from Discover Wisconsin.
I am certain where I will take them. 30 Minutes on second location and 13 browns and one brookie…brookie had gill lice.
caught my personal best walleye a couple weeks back. Taking good photos alone with a slobasaurus is not easy.
