WindRush Farms Trout Stream

Anyone know what has happened to WindRush Farms trout stream near St. James, MO? Their website says they were closed this season. Is that because it is late in the year or were they closed all year? I started fly fishing in the mid 90’s and lived in St. Louis. I visited WindRush on a weekly basis for a year and learned a great deal about trout and fly fishing from the fine folks there. I would appreciate an update if anyone has further information.

Thanks,

Mick

I am not sure, but I think they’ve been closed all year.
I looked on their site earlier this year and it had the same thing.

I’ll do a little asking and see what I can come up with.

I did some asking and checking.

Wind Rush Farms is for sale. I suspect that they will no longer be open.

Years back, the same people owned a trout place called Westover…not too far away, near Steeleville, MO.
They sold that property years ago.

That’s too bad. I learned a lot from Quint and Cicely in my early years of fly fishing, but I know it was a hard and isolated life out there. The setting and stream were gorgeous, but took a lot of work to maintain, especially since they also had their own trout hatchery onsite. An Idyllic setting that was not without hardship. I can remember, years ago, that they’d built a wonderful new house only to have it burn down shortly thereafter due in part to being so far from the nearest fire station. Hope someone buys it who will invest in keeping it alive as a trout stream.
