Went to cascade lake in Hampstead for catfish, ended up seeing this thing and catching it. Odd thing is, its a very green landscape, yet its yellow. I did see a few green and green/yellow ones, but they hid in razor grass that my net couldn’t get em in.

Did you make it …“spit tobacco” ?
HHhhmmmm…that just came to me out of the past;)
Yeah and they bite too! I was a kid once also.
and as for being yellow in a green landscape: have you ever tried to find a yellow tennis ball after it goes over the fence into the weeds? it’s a lot harder than it sounds!
I need to post some pics of the hoppers at my mom’s house, a pattern for them would take a 3/0 hook or bigger. I’ll take my camera next time I go, I remember cutting the grass and it was like you ran over a big pinecone when you hit one of these things.
Isn’t a hopper that size big enough to be classified as food? A good fillet knife, some hot oil and you’ve got some fine eating-----according to many primitive tribes. 8T ![]()
In the island nation I believe they are one of the secret ingredients of the National dish. SPAM!
