Who uses a stillwater prams?

Would anyone recommend using a flat-bottom pram for stillwater fishing? I have seen a lot of anglers from up north in Canada using them. I have looked SpringCreek Prams and have tossed around the idea of buying one, but it is always good to ask around.

I don’t see why not. I fished often from our pram dinghy when I lived aboard the sailboat. I knew, and still know, many who do that.

In fact, here’s a pic of my wife fishing in Espritu Santos Bay from our 6’6" dink. Not with a fly rod unfortunately- she doesn’t use them. That particular pram is a B and B yacht designs Minipaw. There are literally tons of designs out there that can be quickly built, fairly inexpensively.

I’ve always found rowing to be more desirable than paddling particularly if you have to deal with wind or current. I don’t see where you would go wrong with a little boat of this type if you use common sense and watch the weather. 8T

Loufly,
Here are some posts from another favorite site I visit for CA fish’n where members use prams on the American River to fish. You should have no problems on a lake with proper safety precautions (PFD).
