Whiting American Hen Capes

These seem to have come close to disappearing. The hen saddles seem widely available, but not the necks.

Anybody have an idea why? I like them for use as Wonderwings.

I just did a quick search on ebay

found 34 hits if your interested.

thanks for that. I’ve never done e-bay.

Most listed are the bizarre warmwater colors, which you can actually find more easily than the duns, gingers or grizzly. I don’t know if this means anything but most are also listed at prices over and above the few flyshops that seem to have them.

I haven’t seen a shortage in our local shops.

Steven,

Unless you’ve some hang-up with Whiting, you may consider Denny at Conranch Hackle or Charlie at Collins Hackle. Just a thought. Ouch! That hurt, lol.

I only see a shortage in Brown capes. I ask my local flyshop to add a couple to his next order, and he gets them in for me.

Just my opinion, but Whiting is the best quality and value. I can get alot more size 16 and 14 hackles off a Whiting than any other producer.

I have no proof or documentation of this. Like I said, it’s an opinion.
