If I had to fish with one fly the rest of my life it would be the Klinkhamer in several sizes and colors plus with and without tail and with and without trailing shuck.
But otherwise my favorite fly is whatever is hatching at the time I am on the water…Bob

Bob, I just looked at your flies. Kind off topic, but they are amazing looking.

On the river I consider my home water, a large caddis called an alder fly is the major hatch.
Most of the time I will fish it with a peacock and partridge soft hackle. But really, most flys with a peacock body will do, wet or dry.

I have found in Arizona it’s the “Arizona Peacock Lady”.

If you’re not catching fish put one on and you will be!

This is a tough one. There are alot of “local” patterns here in Roscoe.

Mini-Mins would be number one. It is a small streamer.

I live in northern Nevada and by far the best fly for this area is the Bird’s nest. Other really good flies are:

Red fox squirrel tail
pheasant tail
red copper john
EC caddis
Tarantula
Royal Humpy

But then again, is there anyplace with trout in the world where these flies won’t work?

-John

#6 all black Clouser minnow, tied sparce, with red thread. Also, a hard foam yellow popper on a #4 stinger hook when the bass are shallow.

No I suppose the salmon and trout list Jamie is very similar.
No other species on the Island to speak of really as regards to Bass, pickerel, perch, crappy, etc, unfortunely as it relates to fishing, we just have salmon and trout.
I say unfortunate, cause I would love to catch other species on the fly.
One day I suppose I could try saltwater and go for a Mackeral on the fly, that is the tastiest fish on the planet, LOL. Man! oh Man! I love Mackeral.
Funny how its mostly considered bait for catching other fish in these parts.

RStouf

What are they, are they girdle bugs of some sort?
They look interesting, brookies here may love 'em.

Mike
