What would you call this

This is a fly someone showed me how to tie a few years back. [url=http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y190/Finaddict/fly.jpg:c5634]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y190/Finaddict/fly.jpg[/url:c5634]It’s supposed to have eyes painted on but I haven’t done that yet and there is a rattle inside the mylar tubing. I have no idea what it’s called or what might be some different variations of it. Anybody have a clue as to what it is?

I had only three at one time and tied one on. The redfish were tearing it up and had to use a second one. After the second one had plenty of abuse I had to stop so that I would not use my last one until I could tie up some more. So one fly had to be used for a model.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

I think that is a Cave’s Rattling Minnow - it’s a redfish pattern.

Thanks Alberto! That would explain why I caught so many redfish on it. It’s a darn good little fly!

Its also commonly referred to as a Rattle rouser. Great for reds, but works great on largemouth too.

BigCliff…do you know of where I could find the tying method? The ones I tied were simple but I wanna make sure I’m tying it right.

Thanks,
Steve
