what to build next?

I was all set to build a new 9’ 8wt. bought the grip and reel seat( Batson/forecast Yfly Seat and matching grip) guides all except for the blank.
a regular customer yesterday gave me 2 new 9’ 8 wts. that means I don’t have to build.

the question is what to do withthe parts. do I wait and still build? put them on the 8 1/2’ 6 wt blank I have sitting here or just think about building something completely different? I think I really do have at least one of every line wt from 3-9 and I can’t see a use for lighter or heavier at this time.

ideas for the new build are welcome. heck you guys can even design it and we can see it it works.

Save them for this year’s rod swap!

Just a thought

Brad

Go for a 10wt salt water rod?

Switch rod!

I was thinking about a switch rod about a year ago… that may still happen. If I did I’d probably go with a lighter line wt.

Set them aside for just the “right time”…occasionaly some really good, crazy, stupid blank sale will pop up and you’ll be prepared.

That is how I built up my Stowaway 5 piece 4 wt and GLAD I did…heck, your money is already spent, gone, done…maximize it when the “right” blank comes along.

Sunk money is "free’, right???

I like the way you think! My twist on this philosophy is to always have plenty of cork on on hand, then pick up a reel seat when you see one that catches your eye. Same with guides. Thennnn when you see that great deal on a blank, it shouldn’t be too hard to justify buying the blank!

I think I am going to take the advice of those that said to wait. I’ve got enought repairs to keep me out of trouble and a few other blanks i picked up jsut to build and sell. So the parts will go in the box and maybe soon they will find a new home.
