What rod would you want if the manufacturer would give you one? (bamboo excluded)

I really wonder if folks would be fishing with their current rod if they were allowed to have any rod they might wish at no cost to them.

Those are the rods I would like to know about.

I would like an 11ft 3WT 4 piece switch rod.

I would like a Sweetgrass 8ft 3/2 5wt

Sage XP, 6wt!

One of my dream rods is either a Sage, or Orvis 3wt. I could never afford one, but I can still dream…

Back in 2000(?) I bought a Loomis GLX 9’ 5wt. It was a great rod and in the right hands could outcast just about any stock rod. However, I just wasn’t able to cast it too well and I ended up selling it at the end of that year. Well, I’ve learned a little nit about casting since then and I’ve improved sufficiently to the point that I’ve since cast a few of those rods, much to my great satisfaction. So, in answer to your question, I would really like to have the Loomis GLX (or its updated version) in a 9 foot, 5 wt, 2 or 4 piece.

A G Loomis 1204 GLX in a 4piece I don’t think it was ever offered in 4piece.

Well my handle is sagefisher and it is not because I am a wise person

Except for my two bamboo rods, I fish with Sage fly rods. Which rod? Now that is a very difficult question. Let’s see: I love my Circa but then also my ZXL and my VPS Light and my XP’s and… so many rods, so little time.

Larry —sagefisher—

Tom Morgan’s new 8’ 4 weight fiberglass rod.

I have always wanted a Joan Wulff special made by Winston 8 1/2 ft, 5wt, 4 piece. I love the indent for the thumb and the way the rod just feels when casting.

Helios 3-weight 7’6" Fly Rod 4 pc

Probably a Winston BIIX 9’ 7wt. That’s an empty spot in my Winston line up and one I’ve been looking to fill.

I am pretty happy with the line up I have. I don’t know enough about what is currently available to make a decision on a new rod or reel. Any reels I purchase now are vintage click and pawl reels and I have more of those then rods to use them on. If I have disposable income it has been spent on photography gear instead of fishing gear. Currently need a new 'puter and a wide format printer.

I suppose they could ship me any rod they wanted to, as long as it had a winning Powerball ticket taped to it.

Loomis GLX 7-weight, 9 foot rod. I loved the rod. Great all around action, finesse and power - then I lost the rod on an NYC subway platform. (I accidently dropped it just before I stepped onto the train.

Sage one 10’6 #4 switch rod, don’t think they make one yet, but if they did this would be the one for me.
If it has to be a rod that they make already it would be a Hardy salt water fly rod in about a #7
All the best.

An Orvis Helios 8 1/2’ 5wt 4 pc mid flex.

A Kabuto blank, build by Graywolf… a 7ft or 8ft 5wt would be nice, but so would a 6’6" 2wt !

Scott G2, 10’, 5wt., 4pc…which they don’t make…
