I cannot find any info on the Mathias vise. Anyone know what happened to him? It was a great vise.
Thanks
I sure don’t. Do you have a picture of this vise? I would like to research it.
Sean
P.S Do you have a first name ?
Byron would be my first name. I have a Mathias, but it is in storage following our relocation. It is a really nice vice. It was advertised in fly fisherman magazine in about the mid-90’s. I ordered one from the add
Byron,
I think he was talking about Mathias’ first name.

Yes, wondered about that. Not sure of his first name, but the vise just went by the name “mathias Vise”
i did some research and you wont find a thing online except for this:

note: correct spelling is key
That’s all I could find, too, except a thread from some guy wanting to know what happened to them ![]()
Hi Byron, the new Matthias vise surfaced on ebay for a short period. I believe we corresponded regarding it. If you go to fly flyfishersdepot.com you will see this vise. It does not have the needle nose fine point jaws that you remember. If you ever are able to get to the one in storage, I would be interested in making you an offer.

Harry
hshuler,
I would like to take this time to welcome you to FAOL from Tennessee and I look forward to seeing more posts from you.
Is this what you are looking for?
Warren,
I have one of his vises that I got about 18 years ago. He quit the business for quite a while. I found him again about 6-8 mths. Ago and he was back in production. Saw he was selling on ebay a while and now has ceased again. He doesn’t respond to emails anymore.
It was an interesting vise. I got the model with the midge jaws. Provides incredible hook access. If you would be interested, I could post a pic. Of mine.
Thanks Warren
Byron,
It is a very interesting vise and has many great features. I think “hshuler” wants to purchase yours!!
