What about pet peeves

BUZZ I understand what you are saying, but that don’t make it anyless aggravating to me.

Rocky

Ohiotuber,

I add its and it’s as well as apostrophies added or deleted on a whim in newspapers. I have great difficulty with spelling and grammar and don’t appreciate these errors from people geting paid to know better.

I’ll wade in …

I used to have more pet peeves than I could write down. Age and (self perceived) wisdom has narrowed it down to one:

Litter on the river bank!!

Not the garbage dumps like the washer/dryers where people go out of their way to dump down a gorge, … that’s a whole other problem.

You know, … a pop can, empty leader spool, snack bar wrappers, lunch bags …

Drives me so nuts that on more than a few occassions, I’ve gathered it up, hunted down the culprit (easier than you may think on my home waters) … And mailed it to them!!

“And mailed it to them!!”

Now that I like[G].

Would you like room for cream?

PS:

Christopher Chin , you are the man…
Hopefully none of us get your mail.

Duck, Steve, …

There are VERY FEW anglers here. On most of the time, I can find out who fished which pools on a certain day or period.

You have to be REALLY careful that the trash wasn’t from tourists or others. When I am certain, … I can go back into the register, find names, dates, adresses.

When I come into a pull out and see a truck I don’t know, I’ll usuually jot down the licence plate number as well as the name and adress of the angler from the registration card on the dash board.

You have to remember that on a BIG day, … there’ll probably be no more than 20 anglers on the entire 65 miles of river.

Any way, If I don’t do it, … the Wardens will

Oh, … and from judging by the quality of the language and comments you two use here, … I sincerely believe that you won’t be getting and “junk mail” from me

nya,

Speaking of cars, how about those that drive around playing C’rapp’ with a set of 8 speakers at full blast and the bass turned all the way up? You know the kind. The ones you can hear from 1/10th of a mile away and make your ear drums hurt as they get closer.

Allan

Mike, … Don’t get me started, … JC’ll have to ban me if you knew what I DO about those punk mobiles

Chris, I share you peeve about trash. I carry several plastic bags in my vest for the sole purpose of picking up trash. Unfortunately I seem to have to refill the stash of bags all too often.

Not that it keeps me from going, but why is it that it is almost impossible to go fishing without breaking or losing something? Usually its some minor piece of equipment(cheap sunglasses, bandanna, thermometer- not talking about flies); lately, broken bones… Is it just me? BTW, I’m not one of those people that grew up with a Dad that said, “If you’re not bleeding you aren’t trying hard enough”. (That would be my hockey playing fishing buddies…) I guess I’m not a passive angler.

“Knowledge is knowing, wisdom is understanding”

I hate POLITICALLY CORRECTNESS. Its a pet peeve of mine and I really cant believe that no one has mentioned it. Im sick the vocal minority trying to spew their filth on this country and tell others how they should and shouldnt think, say or do. These people arent liberal minded but as closed minded as they come, they dont care what others think say or do as long and they think say or do in the same ideas that they do. Im sick of attacks on Christmas, if they dont like christmas make the b^stards work through the holidays and for gods sakes they shouldnt get the good deals at the stores. If I wanna wear the Red, White, and Blue who cares if some person is offended, h*ll with them if they are offended its America get over it. Lawyers a pet peeve of mine, those vermin are the reason this country is like it is today. But hey I might need one because my great great great great grandmothers sisters’ brothers cousin was attacked by Ottoman Turks and they stole half of his camel herd 400 years ago and I think the government of Iran should compensate me for the attack on my ancestors.

Be careful what you wish for, least some ambulance, er er camel thief chaser get wind of you cousins loss. They will be knocking your door down and filling your mail box with “we can help you get your camels back!” promises and it won’t cost you a dime, the Iranian government will pay for everything! Hah!!!

my pet peeve is people who forget what it was like to be young and so paint the younger generation with a broad brush as ‘lazy,’ ‘not as educated,’ etc. etc.

They paint us with a picture like that Dave until it comes time to choose their nursing homes for them.

When I or another officer pulls someone over, with enough lights on for a circus, and people won’t slow down and move over into another lane to give the officer and the occupants of the “pulled over” car any clearance around their vehicles. Been to too many funeral for officers that died because of this. I think that people who kill officers this way should be charged with capital murder just like anyone else who kills an officer!

Andy

all types of fishermen must pull together for the good of all!!!

how about those that drive around playing C’rapp’ with a set of 8 speakers at full blast and the bass turned all the way up?

It’s not bad yet. Wait intil they get even more deaf by having that stuff cranked up! I imagine nursing homes of the future will have to be built of separate, sound-proof chambers so the neighbors don’t complain!

buttermilk,

I fully understand your peeve and agree. However, this happened just yesterday.

On a winding road that was 45 mph and had a double yellow line, there was an emergency vehicle double parked. Sure, the lights were lit up like a Christmas tree but by double parking the vehicle left room on the road for just one car to pass. Again, this was on a winding road with barely 100 feet to see. Created a very dangerous situation if there had been 2 cars coming from opposite directions. There was plenty of room for that vehicle to park alongside the road and leave more passing space. Kind of dumb.

Allan

Around here in NASCAR Central, it seems the press and even the AAA newspaper wonders why there are so many front-end collisions.
I can tell them! It’s because every NASCAR wannabe feels the need to cut the apex of every curve!
This works on the track because you rarely have on-coming traffic!

Jackster,

You should see the freeway here the sunday evening AFTER the F1 weekend in Montreal wraps up.

One “unforgettable”, (… but I wish) weekend, … I got called out (off the RIVER!!), and flown 500 km South to help out :open_mouth:
