Went back to the saugeye spot...

Went back to the same spot I hooked the saugeye awhile back tonight. It was a little breezy, but just calm enough yet to cast a fly. Every cast I put within a foot of a fallen limb, I came out with a crappie. Bead chain Clouser minnows, size six, pink over white with silver flash, chartreuse over pink with silver flash (electric chicken), and orange Slumpbusters. Between 7 and 9 tonight, I bet I caught 30 crappie and 1 bluegill. Didn’t keep track, but it was something around that.

I had an older gentleman who was fishing with minnows come watch me, and he started asking questions. For some reason, he was very interested how I could catch all those fish when he “just” had a nice 2lb channel cat and one small white bass.

Gotta love it!

Sweet, nice going, Zac!

I see you haven’t learned your lesson, Zac. No pics? Hope Betty and Diane don’t see this one.

Well Tim, all I have is a cell phone pic…

Can’t see the fish too well, but I wanted a pic because this is the first I’ve used a Slumpbuster. I was getting taps with my Clouser minnows… this guy flat-out slammed the Slumpbuster! I figured I had a white bass on, but nope!

Diane and Betty… :stuck_out_tongue: there’s your pic!

Zac

Hey, that turned out much better than MY cell phone pics!

See, there you go, now there’s no room for doubt. By the way, that slumpbuster is a good fly for slab bluegills in deeper water as well.
