Weird weather!!

Thunder … lightening … pouring freezing rain! Terrified 80# dog on my lap!

As much as I want to go fishing, I’m glad I’m not out in this right now!!

In very ancient, Greek Mythology HRH Betty… there was a “Goddess” that was said “To be responsible for all natural disasters, INCLUDING odd and unpredictable weather occurrences”.
Legend portrays this goddess as controlling the weather patterns, in direct proportion to how she would currently be wearing her hair, with most scholars believing it was actually the way her bangs, were cut, that induced the most bazaar and fiercest weather patterns.
Encrypted writings on various ancient buildings and parchments, that have been found thus far, portray that she was known as “Faolbetthattertise”.

Paul,
I didn’t know your “Major” was in Greek Mythology? I thought it would be more like “Creative Writing”??
Thanks,
Doug

Betty,

I know what you are going through! Im a sissy californian who cant handle this rain! I want sun and 70+ degrees!

Now I’m the one to whimper and whine!! Boy, would I like a couple of sunny 70 degree days!!

Betty;
I completed my 12th straight month of fly fishing today, caught 8 rainbows (one was the biggest this year). 50 degrees and raining though, never even got close the the 63 predicted.
And, to make you feel better, I broke my 3 wt.!:frowning:

Betty:

You just need to move one state South. Here in southern Oklahoma it’s 70 degrees this afternoon, and supposed to be 75 tomorrow. Left to go fishing this morning, but by the time I made it to the river the wind had come up to a level that was more than I was willing to contend with. Spring is just around the corner. Spring is just around the corner. Spring is just around the corner. (KEEP REPEATING THAT).

Larry

Scraped about 5 inches of “partly cloudy” out of my driveway this morning. We sure need the moisture, but I’d like to fast foreward to April.

Lew -

You want to pass up the great fishing around here that can be had between now and the end of March !!!

Can’t hardly be ready for April passing on February and March.

John

If I wasn’t so old, and fat, and frumpy, I’d be out there plowing my way through the snowdrifts to get into Seeleys or down by the train bridge at twin bridges or somesuch, but if I did, you’d have to call out the national guard to get me back out. Once was enough! Yes, John. This is excuse #4 on my list of excuses that keeps me out of the snow and blow, and the ice out of my guides. Wish I was 40 again.:frowning:

Yep, weather’s been a bit off here lately, too.

Barely hit 64 today…and was a nippy 36 early this a.m.

BUT we should see our normal 73 Thurs, hit 80 Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon, then drop back down to normal by Valentine’s.

You scraped about 4 & 3/4 more inches of “partly cloudy” than we’ve seen so far this winter. Snow, I can vaguely remember that stuff… Good luck getting some precip. Where Jack Hise lives has been drier than Carry Nation on Sundays.

Ed

Quote; “Yep, weather’s a bit off here lately, too.” End Quote.
You know Bugsy!, that sounds rather “British!”
Doug

Well, Betty, we have over a foot (12") piled in the yard, a couple places are deeper where the 4-wheeler has stacked it. The wind has been at least 10-15mph, predicted for 35 mph and higher the next couple of days, temp may reach 20, wind chill well below zero. Yea this is finally looking like winter used to be. I-80 has been closed more this winter than the last three or four combined.

ENJOY FOR THIS MEANS MORE WATER FOR THIS SUMMER!!!
I keep telling myself this as I walk to catch the bus to work,…

Jack, Warren, Ron, Dleo etc… check in with us and let us know that you’re OK.

Ed

We had some nasty storms last night. Lots of distruction from tornadoes and straight line winds. They missed Tullahoma but deleo and Ron were right in the path.

Really nasty weather. I hope everyone is OK. The news this mornign said there were some fatalities across the Southland. So sorry to hear that.

Here in the Northern Kentucky area, we had a lot of rain, some thunderstorms, but nothing really bad. A few places across town had some trees come down and a mud slide, but as far as I know, no injuries.

Prayers out to all who were in the path of the storms.

Jeff

Byron, Good ole I-80 Just about 10 miles West of your home town. Made it to that spot from Jackson in almost record time and THEN stayed on THAT spot for 7 hours without moving a foot. Thankfully I filled up in Rock Springs.

Mark
AND, even with that…

Best wishes to all of you in the areas hit by the tornados yesterday. May you be safe and recover quickly from any effects that you and your families and friends have felt.

We continue to have a real winter around here - with another four or five inches of snow overnight, and up to another eight inches or so predicted for the next thirty six hours. And that is down here on the Snake River Plain ( Idaho Falls area ). The mountains are really getting pounded, which is about the best news we’ve had in the past five years.

Hopefully, the forecast highs of temps in the thirties starting in a few days will prove accurate. That will improve the roads to the point that getting to some good water will be possible, without real risk to life and limb. After four weeks without a trout in hand, I’m ready for some time on the water.

Again - good luck to all in dealing with what nature is handing your this winter, wherever you happen to be.

John

The lose of life from these storms makes our inconveniences seem rather small. Hope all of you came through it OK.
