I tie these on size 1/0 60 degree jig hooks. This allows me to add a weed guard to the pattern so I can cast it into cover and vegetation. I make the weed guard out of music wire which works well for me. The tail is a 3” piece of black zonker from a Pine Squirrel. The body is large EP fiber brush in black. While I tie them in other colors, black is always my best producing color in leech patterns.
Very nice pattern. Get any crappie on it?
Rick
It’s pretty large for most crappie to take, but it’s killer on big bass.

Nice. Do you have a link to the pattern?
This is a pattern that I made up over time with trial and error. That said, I will create a step-by=step with photos detailing each step and post it here.

That would be great, thanks!
Thanks so much. It will be a great smallie pattern.
Geoff, Sorry, I thought you were referring to another pattern I tie called the Bottom Hopper, so I made the pictural process on that pattern. If you open the posting on the Bottom Hopper, you will see the process that I use for these patterns. The Mega Leech is much easier to tie since all I use is a 3” peice of black Pine Squirrelonker for the tail and large EP fiber brush wrapped for the body. The Weed Guard is optional. I use it here when fishing grass and cover. I hope this helps.
No problem at all, and you have nothing to apologize for.
I’ll look up the EP fiber brush and see if I have anything close.
