Anybody have any experience with them?T hinking about changing tubes.
They were a sponsor, not any more, raised their prices, never owned one.
Tubes or toons…what model tube?
Terry,
I used to own the Water Skeeter Day Tripper float tube. It was without a doubt the most comfortable float tube I’ve ever sat in. I paid way too much for mine, but I think I could have fallen asleep with the cable channel still going. It was almost that big. I used to sit in it to watch TV in the evenings. Every bit as comfortable as a Barkley Recliner. BUT, here’s the problem I had with mine. It would sit you way too far out of the water. When I kicked for backward propulsion I felt like I was trying to kick myself strait up out of the water. I was 280 pounds at the time, and it still kept me too far out of the water. I think with a float tube you need to be somewhat submergered, just to get the kicking action to move you backwards. The floatation of the Day Tripper made that tough for me, even at 280 pounds. My suggestion to you would be to spend twice the price and get 3 times the tube. Super Fat Cat. Probably the best tube out there. For the price or not.
I bought a used Water Skeeter Day Tripper float tube. It is without a doubt the most comfortable float tube I’ve ever sat in. I paid about $100 for mine. It is big, and very stable. When I sit in the the tube, my buttocks is just out of the water. When I kicked for backward propulsion I can move the craft through the water with no effort. It is comprised of two inflatable pontubes, that are attached to the seat, U-shaped tube. There is also, an separate chamber to adjust the pressure for the head rest. The setup has two compartment (one on each arm of the U-shaped tube/seat unit), that has ample storage space for miscellaneous items, with secure zipper closures. The tube is easy to inflate or deflate, and the float tube, is easy to store away in its carrier (which has comfortable straps for backpacking in to a remote lake.
Thank you LoTech! ~Parnelli ![]()
Dear Terry,
I have one and I love it. For the price I paid for it new I love it even more.
It’s a bit difficult to assemble the first time, but since I put it together it stays partially inflated in my truck or the garage.
I can tell you it’s probably not the best tube for you if you weigh less than about 225 pounds because it is a large tube and you can get pushed around by the wind. I’m on the plus side of 300 pounds and I could easily float around and fall asleep in it, it’s that comfortable and roomy.
I’ve fished out of a Creek Company U-boat for about 15 years before I “outgrew” it, and the Waterskeeter is a much better tube for me by a large margin.
Best Wishes,

There was a previous post on here and I “think” it was Fly Goddess. She totally ripped the day tripper. I hope my memory isn’t failing me here cause it will make every body on boaf sides mad at me. I do think though that she tried one and just totally disliked it. I cannot remember all the negative things that were said. Sorry, and if it wasn’t Fly Goddess my apologies go there as well. But it was written up really bad.

BTW…I fish out of an 8’ Water Skeeter Pontoon boat I purchased used. No probs other than it’s a bit heavy. Not the newer lightweight frame. They are a quality company. Oregonfishing.com for Water Skeeter if you haven’t been there already.

Thanks a million guys I knew I could depend on you folks for help a nd most importantly your truet houghts. For the record I am 6-3 and weigh 235 ,and am going to give it some thought.THANKS again for being so helpful and hope to meet some of you folks in person someday.
Parnelli,
You are of course welcome. You must have attached the toons to the rest of the craft correctly. Upon reflection, I think that having not done that myself caused my problems.
God Bless,
It was me and I didn’t really think I ripped on it, I just don’t like it for the same reason as mentioned.
- Very large, therefore wind blows you around alot and hard to move around on land
- Hard moving with kicking cause of how hieght you sit.
Plus the seams wripped out on mine when I went to a different altitude and it was not that full to begin with. - I didn’t care for the fact that it took two different devises to blow the boat up and it is hard to put together right, plus that cross bar is a pain to connect
- I don’t care for the apron.
Now I will agree I am not nor anywhere near 300 lbs and I DO think this is the tube for the big boy’s. I get that.
These were just my experiences and my opinion of this tube…and that is all.
But then when it comes to a floatation devise, money isn’t a big issue to me, but rather quality, therefore if I was 250lb+ it would be the Freestyle H3, but again that is my choice.
I did own the Daytripper so my post is from MY experience.
p.s. is that you Murphy?
I also owned the Daytripper for a VERY short time…
–Backrest seams single stitched & popped before even close to being filled with air.
–All the things Fly Goddess mentioned, plus it is awfully bulky to carry inflated. The other gripe I had with mine was that the thick, hard foam seat was horizontal, instead of being lower toward the rear & I had a constant “slipping” sensation.
I went to a Woodriver Stealthrider Special Edition (now enjoyed by Jack Hise) & THAT is some tube!
