Last week I tied up some tan GFA hoppers. The bluegill and chub in a nearby creek liked 'em just fine. Hopefully will use them on some trout at the end of the month and then trout season is over in Southwest Wisconsin.
I’d been tying a bunch of Mahogany duns and bwos for upcoming trip to Idaho, then took a break from mayflies and switched to meat flies, which was kind of fun. Now that I have those boxes pretty well stocked, it’s back to the little stuff; pheasant tails today, then I’m going to try some Parasol emergers, which look neat.

I’ll be tying up some more Finnits. Been a great producer for the smallies this year. While “electric chicken” has accounted for most & biggest, the “redhead” is gaining ground.

I’m afraid that I’m not tying up much that is really new or inspiring this summer. I’m just too busy with other things right now. About all I’m managing to do is to fill a few empty areas in my fly boxes. I anticipate tying some Charlie Boy Hoppers in the near future. That’s a new pattern of me. 8T

Hi All,
Earlier this summer I lost my fly box of caddis flies. Had a BUNCH of them in the box. I have been out of pocket, not being able to tie because of various things, for quite some time, but now am home, and am hoping to get back to tying.
Also am tying a roughly equivalent set for a best friends son, who for all intents is the same as a nephew, so am planning to go back to elk hair caddis flies for his box and for mine.
Tying these, of course, can and will be interupted to tie needed warm water (mostly bluegill) flies.

Silken web indeed, Pearsall’s at that. To be honest, Donald is to blame for my conversion to the wee wets. Not only do they still work very well, they are part of fly fishing history, and dressing and fishing them connects me with those who cast flies upon the waters all those years ago.

Stage1 - really like that Golden Demon variant. Have to add a few to my box. I don’t live close to salmon/steelhead fishing anymore, but will be prepared when I do.
Wes - Ditto to that low-water Blackout pattern. BTW, I agree, those Alec Jackson spey hooks are really nice!!! Almost too pretty to tie a fly on!! LOL!
