Walleye Wrecker

Walleye Wrecker

Kevin Kirkelie

Hook - Long shank streamer hook, #4

Thread - Gray

Tail - Pearl mylar tubing (frayed from body)

Body - Pearl mylar tubing over shaped muffler tape or substitute

Wing - White bucktail then peacock herl

Collar - Chartreuse hackle

Notes: While walleye isn?t a common target for fly anglers, they will indeed come to the fly. These piscivores can be picked up on streamers and the combination of chartreuse and white can be quite a productive color combination.

Cool fly!
Walleyes are indeed fun on the fly! And they DO like chartreuse! I’ve caught most of my fly-caught walleyes on Clousers, but they will certainly hit other flies as well. There are certain lakes, streams, and certain times of the year, when walleyes spend a good deal of time feeding in shallow water…a perfect situation for fly anglers.
Thanks for posting this, Norm!

Is that a lead weight in that fly’s belly?

yes it is lead weight

You did see the walleye tournie incident, no? That was all I was alluding to. I did see the shadow which made me think of it.
