Wader sole replacement

The soles , which are felt , on my hip waders are shot and coming loose. I have been wanting to replace them with some type of rubber to get rid of the felt anyway so this seems like a good time. The problem is I am having a hard time finding rubber soles. I think I can do the work myself if I could just find the parts. Any recommendations on where to get the soles? Thanks

Got this off of Simms’ site:

My experience with re-soling boots was a total bust. NO WAY were the old soles giving in to removal. Solved the dilemma with a new pair of boots and returning the soles. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME

Removing the old soles is not a problem in this case because they are falling off. One has come totaly loose with just bare rubber underneath. Finding some new rubber to stick on is my problem. I do understand that normally getting the old stuff off and getting a clean surface to work on is tough but not in my case. But you may be right Marco , the time and energy might be a waste of time but the rest of the boot is in great shape and I just hate to thow anything out I might get more use out of.

I did a repair to some flippy flop felt sole shoes a few years back. I just repaired what I had and re-glued the delam. Used Monkey glue because that’s what I had handy and it worked great. The hard part for me was clamping freshly glued parts together to insure the bond.(lots of duct tape!) Personally I’d buy new boots.

…but if you want to give it a try here’s a site you can find some soles:http://www.cobblersupplies.com/servlet/the-Soles/s/26/Categories

…here’s a heck of a deal on some boots:http://www.hodgman.com/Wadewellreg-3-ply-Hip-Wader-w-Felt-Soles-P2042C69.aspx

Have fun!

Tom Travis just happened to mention last night that John Bailey at Dan Bailey’s in Livingston has found some non-felt soles which are very good and will take cleats as well. 800-356-4052

I would check with a shoe/leather repair shop. I have found that the work in places like this is very good and resonable. If you have the soles just take them with the boots and get an estimate.
