Planning a trip to Corpus Christi, Tx in late Nov. Anyone have advice for me on where to go to wade fish and what would be the required equipment to have. I will be flying down from Washington State–so I wasn’t planning to take much with me–ie-waders/boots, etc–too bulky. Is the weather/water temp warm enough in Nov. for shorts and tennis shoes or should I plan on something more substantial? I will be taking my 4 piece 7 wt.
Also–any recommendations for a wading guide if I need one?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Richard
Texas weather in November is one thing to keep an eye on. Tough winds out of the southeast or north west are the norm. Try and catch it somwhere in between. As far as temp’s , the water is still quite warm , it’s the air temp’s to keep an eye on. There are day’s when water temp’s will be 75 and the air temp will be 50. Don’t know any prime spot’s in Corpus Christi but just up the road in a little town called Rockport there are some prime back bay water’s. Brian O’Keefe even did an article on it one time. There are a few guide’s in the area that specialize in fly fishing , one guy I just talked to today said they are really catching a lot of fish right now. If you tie into a big red drum or a monster trout while your here , chime in and let us know. Good luck , hope you have a great time while your in Texas.
In November, the water temps will be fine for wet wading. And if you’re from WA state you won’t find the air temps too daunting if you bring some heavy sweatshirts/fleece and a shell for the worst of it. TX winter is Jan-Feb…in the northern part of the state it can extend into Mar. That’s not to say that the weather isn’t the weather…it’s still unpredictable. But there are Wal-Mart’s and Academy’s all over TX that have cheap waders for less than $100 for that less than 10% chance Mother Nature throws you a rare curve ball.

Thanks Scott–I’m also headed down that direction come late Dec and prefer DIY wade, canoe or kayak fishing. I’m sure that site will be a good resource to have.
