A new computer has been ordered and is being shipped.
The other one had to many problems to fix for the age it was.
Your peace of mind may end as I will be able to acess daily in the next week or so.

I am considering a new laptop.
Not because this one has problems but because it is about 6 years old and bound to die 'just because".
Best computer I have ever had…by a LONG shot! Windows XP(Pro I think)
ACER Aspire 1710 desktop replacement. Tough as nails. They don’t make it any more if you are considering it. Heck I bet they didn’t make it any longer 3 months after I bought it.
BUT I will have another ACER. We’ve had like 4 of them and never a problem…well except the one with VISTA :mad:
BBW, be fair. Was it the laptop or the Vista that you don’t like?

It really isn’t any different, it just does ‘clunky’ things.
The volume wanders all over the place and it takes forever for the volume control to come up.
Never had an ACER I didn’t like. They don’t run into memory problems for some reason…like the Dells I’ve had 
I replaced my 17" Toshiba laptop for much the same reason you mentioned BBW…plus there were a few annoying glitches…also I wanted Windows 7.
After doing alot of comparison…I got a Gateway 17" NV7802u for $479.99 at Best Buy…excellent reviews plus killer price for the specs included.
