Have you looked at this one http://www.flyfishohio.com/Vise%20Review%201/danica_danvise.htm this is the one I use.
garic,
could this be your holy grail??
Normand, thank you, thats exactly the type of thing I have been looking for (I knew the FAOL family would come though :)) It certainly looks good quality, but I’ll do a little research before I jump in. Hans, Have you any experience of this vise?
I think Normand nailed it for you. Looks awful good to me. Just mentioning the Dingo from Down Under as an FYI. It doesn’t get much press or mention on here. I do not have one. You can go to search on the home page for Dingo Review and read about it. It is not as expensive as some might think. Well, that was at least a couple of years ago. Now the dollar value has gone so low the exchange rate might not be that great. Not cheap…but when the exchange rate was much better…it was actually much cheaper than it appeared…because it was priced in Aussie dollars. It has a link to convert Aussie to US. Don’t have a clue what it costs now. Pretty good looking vise. I think also a lifetime guarantee. (Denny from Conranch hackle has one but don’t tell him I told you)
anywhoooo…just fyi

Garic,
No hands-on experience with this Czech-made Regal clone, but from what I see and based on Regal experiences I am not impressed.
Provided the build quality is Regal-like or better, the holding of hooks across a range of sizes should be well covered.
The rotary part will be sub-standard, imposed and limited by the jaws design. Way too much bulk away from the axis to spin easily, and when hand-cranked or inverted the jaws physical bulk will restrict access to the hook.
It would not be my choice. Your mileage may vary.
Cheers,
Hans W
