Tying mylar tubing.

What is a good way to use or tie mylar to a hook? This is for minnow imitations.

To fish or not to fish?
What a stupid question.

Chasepike,

Your title question says “mylar tubing” but then you say just mylar. This response is for plain mylar.

Generally, tie in tail and make a smooth base by not cutting the butt, but by winding the thread up to the shoulder area. Tie down the mylar, color you want to show face down. Flip mylar and wind, edge to edge no overlap, to the tail. Once there, make one wrap at the tail and start winding back to the shoulder in edge to edge wraps. Tie off at shoulder.

Meant to put this in: When you first tie in the mylar, make sure you’ve cut it at an elongated angle so there’s very little build up when you flip it.

Hope it helps.

Thanks everyone. I did mean mylar tubing. I’m not real familiar with it. Ididn’t know it came in other forms besides tubing. Allen you’ve opened my eyes to mre possibilities. Thanks again.
