Hi there everyone I was wondering if anyone out there has tied a lady bug pattern. I have bought them before, but because I can now tie my own why should I buy.
Other than to help out the economy of course. 
But if anyone can help me out with a recipe on tying a lady bug I woul be grateful.

If you get the “Fly Tyer Magazine” spring 2009 addition you will find a excellent lady bug pattern on page 68

i have a pattern that is great for a lady bug have been looking through my books and dvd but cant find it I will send you one and you can figure it out yourself . hackle for legs orange foam for back. If you would like me to send one to you send me a pm.

Red Diamond yes PRM’s post looked great I think I may try that. Man talk about a responds thank you very much to everyone out there on this question, I have some ideas I will post what I came up with for your reviews soon.
I know I’m a little late but…
Thread - black 6/0 or 70 denier
Hook - 14 dry fly (your choice but I like the Tiemco TMC111)
Legs - deer hair either natural or black
Back - red or orange foam
Start thread at the rear of the hook, tie in a 1/4" strip of foam, spin a small clump of deer hair in the middle of the hook then trim the top flat leaving the bottom flaired out, pull the foam over the top of the deer hair and tie down near the eye of the hook, trim off the excess foam and whip finish, trim the rest of the deer hair short to look like legs, dot the back of the foam to look like a ladybug (even though I have never thought a fish could see the top side of the fly where I put dots on the back I still do it so people don’t ask what it is in my box).

…I don’t think that the fish are very selective when it comes to beetles.
There’s so many different kinds and I would think to a trout, they all look like food.
So I use a humpy
While no fish as ever really told me that they thought humpys looked like beetles, none have ever mentioned that they didn’t either. :rolleyes:
