Tying flies you don't use?

For those of you that tie Salmon flies, and other things that you don’t put in your fishing boxes, what do you do with them? I have some things in mind I would like to try just for fun, but what to do with them when I am done? I’ll take some and make shadow boxes, but to get great specimens for that, I’ll go through some not so great ones . . .

My mother used to tell me that there were poor kids in India that didn’t have salmon flies…

Er, wait, what?

For the almost good enough flies, you can always donoate them to worthy causes such as Reel Recovery, Casting for Recovery and Project Healing Waters.

A lot of my “How in the world did I do that” flies, meet their end with a razor blade cutting off the material to save the hook.

I give a lot of mine to friends. One in particular said he is glad to get my “mistakes” and takes them out, feeds them to bushes, trees, and rocks and even catches a few fish. It nets me a 6 pack every now and then.

I fish some of the traditional wets I have screwed up. Haven’t caught any fish on them, but a few have been chewed up pretty good.

I have no clue what I’ll do with the salmon flies.

I don’t tie fancy flies but I give away my extras to whomever on FAOL wants them.

So far I have not had a shortage of volunteers.
