This has been mislaid on my pc for a couple of years.
Tup?s Nymph
James E. Leisenring?s version

Hook - 13,14.
Silk - Primrose yellow.
Hackle - A very small light blue hen hackle, or
a medium dark honey dun hen hackle.
Body - Halved : rear half of primrose buttonhole twist;
thorax or shoulder of yellow and claret seal?s fur mixed
dubbing, spun on primrose yellow silk.
Tail - Two honey dun hackle points.
The above fly was dressed with Pearsalls primrose silk, the buttonhole twist was Seata Reale ticket 30 pale yellow buttonhole silk and the hackle medium honey dun hen.
Very nice, Donald. I’ve always wanted to try a Tup’s. Guess I have to give it a go, now that I have all the materials.

That is a nice nymph Donald. Now where can one get “button-hole silk” thread?

Ron,
I’m glad you have found a use for the Seta Reale tkt 30.
Jim,
If you read Leisenring’s book, he mentions ‘buttonhole twist’ being available in every country store. But that was in the 1940s, times change.
It took me quite a wee while to find something equivalent. It supplied by Coates, but I don’t think in the US. Contact Jim Slattery -

He may be able to help, he knows a great deal about
Leisenring and ‘flymphs’.
