Broke the thread 5 times, cut the thread at least 20 times, forgot to tie on ribs a dozen times. Best tool this week was a sheetrock knife. Hope next week is better with no Friday the 13th.
“Tomorrow” will be better. May you not hit the point where you start tying a fly, and forget the pattern part way through … or have the super glue blurp out of the tube and glue your wedding ring on your finger … or banned from anything with a flame involved.
Glad to hear I’m not the only one!
Look at that!!! Welcome home smij!! It’s been too long!
Thank you! It’s nice to be home.
I never thought you could be as clumsy as me. Good to hear from you.
Best we can do is laugh and learn in these situations. I had multiple flies last week where I prepped buck tail, hackle, or deer hair in my non-bobbin hand only to learn I hadn’t even started the thread on the hook yet LOL
We all have those times, especially if you have a creative habby like fly tying. I also make custom pens as a second hobby and it’s even more frustrating when you have those days as some of the materials are rather pricey. When my wife asks me how did it go after tying flies or making pens, if I have “that” kind of day, I just tell her I was just wasting materials so I stopped while was if not ahead, at least not as far behind as I would be if I didn’t stop. All that said, I really liked Betty’s story about gluing her wedding ring to her finger. That made me laugh. Hang n there. It’s all part of the journey.
It can’t be too bad if you don’t have to clean the blood off of your tying supplies. There are days when I shouldn’t be allowed near a razor blade. Unfortunately, it’s always in hindsight. Never rush trimming deer hair.
Finally - FAOL BB allowed me back in, only to find out we have multiple “moderators” and a whole bunch more stuff to get used to.
Haven’t tied enough flies this past year to go through anything at all like you described, Rick.
Now I’m wondering if my signature ( The fish are always right ) will show up on my post ???
John
Hey John, I can’t find any place in my profile for a signature. I think this board is a lot safer from spammers and hackers than the old one even if it does take some getting used to.
