took thegrandkids fishing today

They had a blast. they saw a bald eagle take a fish out of the water from 50 feet away and they got some fish, lots of sun, and we roasted weenies and made smores.

i am new to fly fishing and I found a fly up there a natural that I have not seen before and was wondering how common it is. It was a caddis but it was black and would be about a size 12

The brits call it a Black Sedge, sedge being our caddis. Check out the Not Quite Entomology section for it here: [url=http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/nqento/part2.html:9f10b]http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/nqento/part2.html[/url:9f10b]

Nice thing, the kids fishing. Keep at it you all can learn together. No hurry; one fish at a time.
