I have just finished a 8’ 4 piece 3 wt. on blanks form Elkhorn… how sweeeet it is!!! I love this action. I plan on giving it a christening in the morning on the Caney Fork at “Congo Bottoms” looking for some of those trophy browns that are in there…
I also understand that Elkhorn has just been sold! Anyone hear anything on that?
Yes, it it true. Brian, long time friend, consultant, and fishing partner of Tom, completed the purchase of Elkhorn last month. He is looking forward to continuing the tradition of offering fine, honest fly rods, reels, lines, and rod blanks to the fly fishing community at great prices. You will find Elkhorn on the sponsor page of this site.
Well…feedback is a wonderful thing. I didn’t get to the river at the time I had planned on it but I was still there to watch the sun come up and to throw some 20 and 24’s in a few various patters to some hungry trout…I am still amazed at the feel of that little 3 wt and once I found the rythem to it it was a sweet and wonderful thing. this rod was getting as much distance as I wanted out of it and had a feeling like a parabolic. slower than most of the graphites I own but but so sweet to cast. Several small browns in the 10-14" range, several small rainbows in the same range and one nice brown at 17" that felt like a whale on that little 3 wt.
I like the Elkhorn and will build a few more of them for those friends that like that same feel. Congratulations to Brian and Best wishs to Tom in whatever his next venture will be. Very nice job on the Rods Elkhorn.
