Sometimes, down-sizing is the way to go to get skittish bass to hit. I call these little guys Tiny Toads for obvious reasons. I make them out of 1/2" triangler balsa with the slot for the hook cut into one of the “points”. They cast fine with my 3 wt, but you’d better hang on. It’s surprising how many large fish will take a small meal if it looks like easy pickings. Fun to make, fun to fish and effective.

Jim, what size hook and legs on this Tiny Toad? Did you cup the face?
Thanks in advance,
Dennis
To fish your bugs James, I would have to learn to swim. I could NOT risk loosing one to a snag. They look too much like jewels to me. Now our old hair bugs…that’s another story.

Thanks for the kind words, but they are so easy to make, I cast them where the fish are.
I’ve attached a pic-tutorial that might help explain the steps. Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions.

Lee,
Thank you for the kind words. That said, they are actually easy to make and don’t take too long so I cast them whereever I think the fish are.
Very creative. Thank you for sharing with us.
That looks very fishy!
