didnt do much for me
if they are trying to sell a reel then talk about the reel! all i saw was someone fishing and pulling on the fly line
i wouldnt buy one
here is some data I found about the reel:

I’ll take one Bill just cuz I dont have one already.
Would be handy for some circumstances,ya just gotta think positive sometimes.
Not impressive at all based on the video. Looks like you have to pull the line and it is huge.
i think i don’t know for certain, that they wanted to show that there was no loose line under foot. one of the advantages of the semi automatic fly reel is that you have the ability to get a fish on the reel quickly. I iuse semi auto reels but i never use the statue of liberty pose but you can hold your rod and net the fish too.
How is it different from the old Martin Automatic Fly Reels (I actually have one, and still use it on occasion)?
the semi automatic fly reels should not be compared to the old, heavy automatic fly reels of 30 or 40 years ago. semi auto reels have no spring inside them; so there is nothing to wind. semi auto reels have adjustable drags. depending on the model semi automatic fly reels hold considerable backing and spools can be changed. some are made from aluminum blocks and can be used for salt water. I think the reason more people don’t use them in America is that they are pricey. they are popular in europe especially competitions.
so how does this one reel the line back in??
this is the franco vivarelli goldstar. it works on the same concept as the thinkfish.
squeeze the lever and line is pulled in.
so it is like a racheting type mech… only rachets in one direction n free spools back into position?? thats what I gather from the pic anyway… I kinda like my old southbend spring jobs n the weight for balancing out the old boo rod I use em with… Sometimes more weight is a very good thing! but I doubt many ppl would carry some of the rods i enjoy using as the trend in boo has gone pretty much toward short light weight, light line dry fly flingers for the graphite crowd to even considered them as fish worthy… sad actully that few will ever know what boo used to be…
