THE FLIES OF ROXY ROACH

Tom Deschaine brings us 2 flies from Pennsylvania’s own Wilbur “Roxey” Roach (1882-1947).

I really like the look of these and will most likely be adding some to my collection of streamers. What is the white feather for the cheeks?

Looks like the tip of a turkey flat would suffice.

I’m sorry, I inexplicably left the “shoulders” off the recipe for each fly. They are “Each a white duck breast feather, about on-third as long as the wing”. I used wood duck breast feathers on the flies shown.
