Great article and flys Eric…I’ve enjoyed the whole series you’ve done and, materials allowing, try to tie some of them.
Question for you (or anyone)…the white tipped blue mallard…is that from the small feathers at the top of the wing?
Thanks…Jason
Thanks fellows, these comments really mean a lot coming from pros like you. I’ve loved doing the series, and hope to do more. I just got Don Bastian’s video in the mail, and it’s a great one. He’s not just a great tier, he’s a fine educator as well. Everything Andy has been trying to tell us is true. Andy, I envy you taking those classes with Don! And Feenom, you’ve got it exactly right, those bluish white tipped feathers come from the outside of the mallard wings. You can buy a pair of wings fairly inexpensively, and tie with those feathers, then tie no-hackles with the quills, along with other wets. What a deal!
