TFO rod questions

I recently bought a TFO 4wt Professional series rod that I like alot. I wondering about the new Finesse series and if anyone had any expereince with them and also how much difference is there really between the Pro and the Series 1 other than one being 2 piece and the other a 4 piece? I am one of the few in the world who actually prefer a 2 piece but was convinced that the Pro was so much better for a little more money.

georgiared,

I have both the Pro Series and the Series 1 rods. I would recommend either. It seems to me that the series 1 is a bit slower than the pro series. The pro series also has a better reel seat and alignment dots (mere convenience). The series 1 is an 8 1/2 footer whereas the pro series is available in 9 foot. The series 1 would be better for the novice caster.

The Finesse series have a nicer looking seat and are available in shorter lengths.

All three rods are IM6 series graphite.

I have been extremely satisified with TFO rods, customer support and no-fault warantee. I don’t think you can go wrong at this price.

Thanks a lot. Cleared up some fogginess for me.

georgiared, the TFO series 1, pro and finesse rods are all made frome IM 6 graphite. The difference in the rods are their tapers.

Some of the series 1 rods are actually a little faster then the pro series. Series 1 rods use less expensive components. The fineese series are actually TFO slowest action rods and are considered a “slow” action.

I have casted all of them and I think they are a great value. The 7’9" 3 wt finesse is a sweet small stream rod. Rob
