Teton from Snake River

Minimal damage except for/to my pride. Tow dude wanted to DRAG it out and I insisted he LIFT it out with his sliding bed . Dragging it out would have ripped out my driveshaft, muffler, gas tank etc. Took him 15 minutes but he came all the way from Jackson. Seve Molcsan “witnessed” the mishap but assuming there was no beer at the site, did not stop to help. :>) In any case, $ 300 was a “deal” even if for only 15 minutes. By the way, that spot on the “high side” of the dam parking lot is STILL not repaired ( 10 yrs ) . The huge bumper logs sre still a bit downhill where my Jeep teetered on the brink.

Marco,

The guy only spent 15 minutes with you, but as you said he came all the way from Jackson and then he returned to Jackson and brought his truck, which someone has to pay for. We forget the story behind a service call, total time spent, the cost of equipment, etc.

Marco,
I wasn’t complaining about paying him. He did not ask for anything. I gave him 20 for stopping and 100 for changing my tire. He was a near-by local who was good enough to stop and help.

A just reward to a good Samaritan, great that he stopped, especially at that time of night.

get AAA, my ole truck died and they picked up the towing. AAA has some other good stuff too, their “trip tics” at least give you a guide to campgrounds/lodging/food to an area, has a nice app for your cell…

Byron,
At risk of totally hijacking your original post, but then again, lately???.., I too agree that $300 was not bad. As is evidenced by my “situation” i was prepared to mortgage the farm. We will again be there from the 12th thru the 30th ?? and hopefully not repeat that scenario. Hopefully, also, we will again meet former VP Cheney at the Snake River Grill.

Marco,
No wories, I think the “crime” of hijacking a thread is sorta silly. Let the thread go wherever folks want it to go.
