Testing my 'new-to-me' 6' 2 wt rod and reel...

OK, I realize this is a bit unorthodox, but since I can’t get out on the stream nearby I wanted to test my latest acquisition. I bought this rod and reel from the classifieds here on FAOL and as usual I have been extremely pleased with the purchase.

I picked up a mint TFO Signature series 6’ 2 wt rod and I have found it pays to ask a seller if they have anything else to sell when negotiating for an item - for a little more than the price of the rod I also got a Pfleuger Supreme with line to go with it - both at a very, very fair price.

Here’s a picture:

Having received it in the middle of a lake-effect blizzard that dumped 15" of new snow on us, I decided to give it a try in the house using a bit of yarn and our little dog, Lillie, a 4 year old Bishon Frise as a trout.

Lillie wasn’t too cooperative, but my lovely wife who was vacuuming downstairs was willing to go along with me.

At least for a little while…

Wow! An LDR on a wife…that’s a first. What kind of yarn was that lure? My wife wouldn’t rise unless it was ‘Peaches and Cream’ with a $50 bill as a dropper.

Unlike most trout, wives have a long memory, she obviously remembered the last time she let him reel her in. Of course, a nice pearl bead with a little diamond flash would have probably worked. The correct bait and presentation are so important.

Bob,

Happy to see the gear in the hands of its new master! Here are two conquests from the first two trips I took with it:

Nice work, Marty!
