Terrible Tragedy

flyfishingtyer (Texas)

Fly Patern/Instructions CD
Read his wife’s post on 3rd page. :frowning:

?

Question; Does anyone know this guy???
I checked his Profile and it revealed he joined in April and has 4 Posts.
I hope this event isn’t true. If this is a Hoax, I am amazed that someone would stoop that low.
Doug

From the other forum:
“This is flyfishingtyer,s wife. My husband passed away sunday night in an electrical accident. He was allways working on something to help someone. The last thing he was working on was a cd he was going to coppy and send out to people he spoke with in a chat room in here somewhere. This web address, password was written on the case of that cd. He would never take anything in return. He would say ( Just be my friend, help someone else who needs it and thats payment enough for me.) He had just got through teaching his son how to flyfish and a little about fly tying. I miss him allready.”.

?

Unless someone is up close and personal with this one (personal validation), I would not go there. My radar is tingling on this one.

It’s difficult to pounce on this one. My only clue to some apprehension is " I miss him already". If he passed away last Sunday night, why wait so long??

Mark
PS: I hope this was not a hoax not only because there will be no CD in my mailbox It would be sad to know there are folks who stoop so…In any case…

I’m with Joe on this one. That last phrase led me to the Kilgore, Texas Newspaper Obituaries which had no listing for a 40ish guy who died Sunday. I guess it’s the nature of this beast (the internet) where I ask questions first and trust second…trying hard not to be cynical.

I guess this takes us back to a previous thread questioning the validity of sale items from posters with few posts to their name. Unless a veteran poster can vouch for them, I prefer to wait to see how active they become on the boards before considering to do business with them. Prudence and patience.

Joe

Not to be rude or presumptuous if anything really did happen, but some people will do ANYTHING for attention, no matter if it is negative or positive. They crave it. It is a mental disease in my opinion.

nen-bran

interesting, it could always happen ther are some WIERD people in this world.

i’ve chatted with FFT, though i do not no him personally. he seemed like a nice guy when i chatted with him. unless he checked the remember me box to log in, (not sure if that is what its called) how would she get his password unless maybe he told her? her never being on this BB would’ve had a problem finding that exact post. hard to say if he truly did pass away but i sure hope not. if she would come back to the BB and reply again, than it may seem more plausable IMO

WWFF

Agreed WWFF. But he could just have the “Log me in every time i am at the site” thingy, so if he did die, which would suck, she might have been able to get on.

:? nen-bran

yepo thats a possibility

“Log me in every time i am at the site” thingy = remember me box

What is suspicious is the lack of info on how he was electrocuted. Helping a friend and getting hurt is one thing but being shocked to death???

ok let me kick my 2 cents in here. ok the guy offers a cd of fly patterns for free. Next thing you know his wife is on here telling us he is dead. How much money did we put out for the cd’s? What gives any of us the right to say he may not be dead. Did we have the cd before this offer was made and then had it taken away NO! People express their grief in many ways and if this is a hoax then that is on them and they will have to answer for it. I know anytime my wife wants on here she can cause I am always signed in. In working in call centers I have had many people express their grieve in the strangest ways that I accept what they say and move on.

To the family this gentlman left behind I express by deepest condolances and will remember you in my prayers. I pray that you will retain only the fondest memories of your time together and that you are able to move on not forgetting just able to deal with the grief. The offer your husband made was deeply appriciated and I am sorry I did not get to meet him.

Have to agree with HarleyBob - No one was being charged for anything… the man’s wife has not asked for anything. Yes, it’s a strange story, but is probably painfully true.

Couldn’t have said it better than harleybob.
