Terminator

This is the fly I used down in Port Sulpher, LA. with Capt. Rich Waldner. Rich created this fly a while back, and is used in this area. The Terminator is a Red Fish killer!!

This is my spin off, of the Terminator.

should be called the “Anorexic Terminator” !!

Normand, I thought the same thing when I saw this thing!!. But after using one for two days, I still have the fly and it is still fishable. My side kick, Gary & I caught 20 t0 25 Reds per day. Fishing with Rich was a blast!!

Tony,
It looks like the Terminator would have a fast sink rate and be easy to cast??
Doug

The Terminator is vertually air resistant. The sink rate will vary, depending on the size barbell eye you use. I use 20lb mason mono for the legs.

That is just a huge Red!! I can only hope that Texas has’em that big! I’ll be tying a few Terminators for sure!

I use a signature hook,#1 or 2 mustad S7S SS with a slight bend like bending for a spoon fly. I also bend the area close to the eye like the bend back, about 1/4 inch. That is where the barbell will sit. You need a signature hook for those big reds!! I split the tail to look like claws, and the color of a blue crab. Good luck on your trip to TX. I here there is some big reds there.

Now that?s how to take a picture of a fish you just caught.

Taste the cork and say cheese. You just don?t see that enough.

Respectfully,
Sean

I wish I did catch this one :(. My partner in crime, Gary is the lucky guy, not I. He caught this baby in about 1 ft.
of water. We have caught fish in less. Rich Waldner poles us to those big reds. Rich earns his money in the marsh lands of LA. If anyone is interested, check out his web site at http://www.fishwithrich.com/ he will be glad to accommodate you. There’s a lot of great pics. on his web page.

I lived in Ingleside for 11 years and loved fishing the bays there and Reds were my main target most of the time. There is nothing better than catching Reds in shallow water. Wish I Had been into fly fishing back then, but I still had a great time fishing with spinning gear on 10# line. 10# line is a bit small since they can cut it so easy, but I had many great days and caught a load of Reds fishing jigs with red shrimp tails and spoons.

One of my best days was with a friend there and we had 9 Reds with the smallest at 26 3/4". I was lucky enough to have a great day and caught 5 of them and it was just as much fun on the others that cut my line and that was at least 5 more like the ones we kept that day.

That is a monster you are holding and i guess maybe I should learn how to tie your fly, LOL!

I live on Toledo Bend now, but was born and raised in Orange Texas so I am very familiar with LA. and their great our door fishing & hunting!
