Mr. Nemes, will remembers for not only his writing skills, and efforts to help keep the "Soft-Hackle Fly Patterns alive, so these fly patterns would continue to be used on the waters by those who have read his books. In his last book, Mr. Nemes is keeping the history of other writers who preceded him in the love of “Soft-Hackle Flies” their writings alive so others can read their words too. I believe that he was writing these books, to save for future generations, the history and lore of the “Soft Hackle Wet Fly”! Mr. Nemes shared his love of “Soft-Hackle Wet Flies” with other, not being content with this knowledge for his own private use and enjoyment. His last book, “Two Centuries of Soft-Hackle Flies”, as an acknowledgment and legacy to all those who own writings helped others. Keeping alive the history of “Soft-Hackle Wet Flies”, by allowing us to take a peek into books that are so rare, that most of us would not otherwise have a chance to learn from those who preceded him.
Sylvester Nemes gift to us, and to future generations of fly anglers!

Sylvester Nemes will be missed, he will always be remembered, by those who already know his work, and those who will discover his writings (long after all of us are no more)!
Mister Sylvester Nemes, lead a good life, and he left behind a gift for all of us to partake in. Not just what he wrote, to also remember those who preceded him, in sharing with other their knowledge and love for this activity. ~Parnelli
Sad to see. I have his book “The Soft Hackle Fly Addict”, which contains all of Pritt’s original dressings and some of his own. I enjoy it quite a bit.
He didnt teach me how to fish a Soft Hackle, and he didnt show me how to tie a Soft Hackle, but he did reveal to me why my Soft Hackles were so productive.
I had the honor of watching him tie for me at an FFF National Conclave. All tyers should raise a glass in his name…
I never met Sylvester Nemes, but I was lucky enough to get Soft Hackled Flies when it came out along with each new one that came out.He was one
of my angling heroes.
I thought I would just pass this link along. It’s to a very nice article about Sylvester Nemes in Chronicle Outdoors
Mato,
