I am wondering if there might be someone among us who could prepare an article on tying with some of the synthetic materials. Maybe like a list and photo example of each and indtructions on what type of flies it is best used for as well as how to use each material.
I am seing lots of patterns especially among the saltwater patterns where folks are using the craft furs and notice that Rainey’s is offering a very substantial line of these products but no instructions on how to use them. Also there seems to be other stuff like the kinky hair etc that I would like to know how to use.
Anyone else wondering too?
About 90 percent of the materials you are talking about are used as the wings on streamers. That is about it. If you know how to tie a streamer then you can use just about all of the materials you are talking about. I would just do a search on this web-site and a few others for “Saltwater Patterns” and you should come up with just about all you will ever need.
It would take a book on what you want not an artilce. In fact there are several on the market.

You might want to check out Phil Camera’s book Fly Tying with Synthetics. Good book but there have been a lot of new synthetic materials being used since the book was published. Still worth a look
