Steak and Eggs

Hi all. I think I’ve been away from the board forever. But, I know where to come when I have a question!

Anyone familiar with a pattern called “Steak and Eggs”? I’ve gotten a couple inquiries about how to tie it and I haven’t even seen it!

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Bob,

Stonefly nymph and a Globug; check this link for a little more info: [url=http://www.flyfishusa.com/newsletter/112402/:a31a4]http://www.flyfishusa.com/newsletter/112402/[/url:a31a4]
Kind of like Spaghetti and Meatball - IPW or SJW and Globug; killer combo!

Scott,
What is the fish pictured with the kid? I get the implication that it is a coho (silver salmon), yet it looks very much steelhead to me.
No biggie…just curious.

Lee,

Not sure either; looks like he can handle that 2-handed rod a lot better than I could, though.

For a second there I had the idea that he meant one fly that combines the two, like an egg sucking leach.

I get it now. Stonefly and egg dropper.

Actually, depending on who you talk to, it’s a “combination of flies” or it’s actually ONE fly.

I’ve gotten some replies from some other sources (finally). It looks like some sort of “flesh and egg” or “San Juan Worm & egg combo” are the most common for a fly pattern.

So far, no one has sent me a picture of the (one) fly they’re referring to as a “Steak & Eggs”.
