Spooky Redfish in Florida

I flyfished with a guide near Titusville, Florida. Fun trip!
I cast to many Redfish, Black Drum, stingrays, seatrout, hardhead catfish, and 1 sheepshead.

Most had already spooked by the time we saw them, and weren’t about to strike a fly. I hooked 2 Redfish and landed one of them.

I dropped flies to a number of Hardhead Catfish, but the only one that hit was on a longer cast, and I didn’t know the fish was there.

I also caught a small Spotted Seatrout and foul-hooked a Stingray that swam over the top of my fly.
Saw dolphins, manatees, and gators, including this big one that was laying on the bottom before swimming away:

Fishing my neck of the woods, hope you had a great time!

Figures. You damned yankees come down here and it’s all blue skies and red fish. When the weekend comes, us crackers are stuck with rainy days and…

Nice Red! If you ever want hardhead catfish tips, hit up Gils Gone Wild. He is the catfish KING!

I didn’t catch much, considering the effort and time…but I really enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing the great fishing in your state with the rest of us.

Just cause my wife calls me hardhead don’t mean nuthin’. ha!! (Although I have caught more than my share. )

jwred is the only guy I have ever had on my skiff to catch a hard head catfish on fly! Thus the nicknake, “Catfish Johnny”!
