Spanish mackerel and bonito off Venice Beach

The air temps are back into the mid-70s so the water temps should start climbing after the cold front that moved through the Venice/Sarasota area last week.

It’s still windy, but on Friday’s morning calm my anglers caught trout and snook in Lemon Bay. Had planned on going outside Stump Pass, but the wind started gusting to 20 knots and I thought that plan was unwise.

Kevin Cooke and Stacy Adams called just a few minutes ago (I’m minding the shop while they went fishing) to say they found a huge number of Spanish, along with little tunny, about a mile out from the Venice jetty.

Lemon Bay also has been very good for snook and redfish, so if you need to escape the cold weather Up North check out AirTran’s latest sale.

Tight Loops,
Capt. Tony

Hey there Capt. Good to see a report from you. However, I thought you’d be up in Michigan by now. Staying put this year.

Give my best to Kate (and Ghost;)). Hope all is well with you and yours and have yourselves a great Thanksgiving.
